I have not been following the training schedule as well as I should have been. As of today, I am back in the game and ready to train! I plan on running today after work and the rest of the week.
It's so funny...I think about it all the time and feel terrible for not doing my part. I actually felt like I needed to "confess" my downfall and start fresh this week. So here I go...wish me luck!

I think I had about 5 rest days this week! LOL! Yeah, we definately need to re-do week 2. Noah has been sick all week, and there's just been alot going on. Next week, we'll pick up where we left off to get ready for the big 10k! Did we ever decide which one we are going to do?

Well, this week was a bust for me...work and working out just didn’t jive. Brian and I are planning to ride bikes again tomorrow…not 10+ miles this time!

I am tired!!!!
Annie ~ That is so funny about the bike trail! But awesome that you guys went that far! I am doing pretty good with everything. I walked on the treadmill for my cross training. I had it on incline and after 4o minutes I was TIRED!!!! But I am feeling so good to be working out again. This was a really good idea :) I ran the 3 miles today and am so proud of myself for being able to run the whole thing. So, do guys want to try and find a 5K to do in a month or so? I think it would be fun. Talk to you guys soon!

Extreme Cross Training
Brian joined me for today's event - cross training! We took our bikes to a local park to ride around the paved trail. We weren't sure how long the trail was, but figured it didn't matter...how long could it possibly be? Surely we would make it back to our starting point! Well, it turns out that the trail is not a complete circle...it does not bring you back to where you started! We don't really know how far we went, but Brian seems to think 10 miles or so! That is much more ambitious than I was planning! Anyway, needless to say I completed the cross training and am gearing up for the three-mile run tomorrow. I think Brian may join me for this one as well!
Can't wait to hear more about how you girls are doing!

I did it!
I ran the whole 2.5 miles!!! I have never run that long before. After I read what you wrote Annie, I decided to just slow down and run slower and I never ran out of breath or anything. I ran at 4.5 and it took me 33 minutes. I was so excited! That was a major confidence boost! I also got new running shoes because my feet were hurting after I got done. This was a great idea!
I Am Ready For "Rest Day"
Way to go Tiffany! That is really great that you were able to run the whole time! I ran last night when I got home and did pretty good. I took two 20-second walk breaks, so I was proud of myself!
My legs are still sore today, but I am sure that will get better with time! I may do a light run tonight or ride my bike...not sure what I am up for?? I can't wait to hear about everyone's cross training! Talk to you soon!

In case you didn't belive me ;)
Sore Legs Are Useless!
Oh my goodness! My legs and booty are so sore today! I went to the gym last night and did some weights and stretched (don't really get this part of the training, but whatever). Today, my legs feel like they are made of jelly! I'm sure this is a "good thing" - or so they say??
I am trying to gear up for today's big run. I am with you Jennifer, running 2.5 miles is going to be tough. I am more of a run/walk girl! I just plan on taking it nice and slow and hopefully I will make it! If you see something on the news tonight about a girl being found on the side of the road, it's probably me! Hopefully they will get some good footage of my cute shoes though!

So Far, So Good!
Thanks for all the tips yesterday Annie! Yesterday I did a 30 minutes Pilates video. I forget how week I am until I do Pilates! And we walked to the park last night for the kids to play. I would guess it was about 2 miles total??? That was a great warm-up for the big run today!!! I have never done 2.5 miles at a time in my life! I've always stopped at 2 miles so we'll see how this goes! More to come later! :)

First Day!
Annie, your shoes are really cute! I am very excited about doing this with you two!!! I did not know how out of shape I was until I did my strength training today. Just 30 minute of yoga and strength training on the Wii, but I am wore out!!! So, this will be really good for me to do. Thanks for all of the good tips on your post, Annie!

Day One and I'm Pumped!

Today is the first day of training and I am excited! I went to Luke's Locker yesterday and bought some new running shoes...retro Nike Pegasus. These were a must if I'm going to commit to run eight miles! I gave them a try last night and today my legs are so sore. Just goes to show how out of shape I am! Anyway, here is a picture of my cute shoes!
I met one of the running teachers while I was there and she had a few great tips:
- If you can't carry on a conversation while you're running, you are running too fast.
- Don't worry about your time, just finish the course.
- Make sure and wear good running shoes...these make all the difference. Plus, you can do damage to your feet and even lose toenails (not a good look for summer!) if you're shoes don't fit right.
- Be sure to rest on your rest days. If your muscles don't have time to heal, you're not likely to increase your endurance and time.
- Eat...my personal favorite! Make sure and eat a protein bar or some form of carbs before you work out!

Here we go!
Okay...so I'm looking forward to tomorrow strengthening and stretching but I'm nervous after that! I haven't run in so long but it will be fun to keep each other accountable! That is a good idea Annie, I need new running shoes! Let's see if I can talk Kasey into it :)

Tomorrow we start! I was having a lot of problems trying to get the calendar to work on here. I know we all have the training schedule online. And every morning at 6 am, the blog will post the instructions for that day. Tomorrow is stretching and strengthening. So, not too hard of a day. We can do it!!!!
